Job summary

Rydon Maintenance Ltd is recruiting a Multi-skilled Maintenance Operative for our NHS contract in Ilford. You will perform PPMs and reactive repairs across plumbing, basic electrics, and carpentry, within a live healthcare setting, following strict safety protocols.

The role offers a competitive starting salary, a company van and fuel card, and a comprehensive benefits package. Normal hours are 8am–5pm, Monday to Friday, with on-call shifts to boost earnings.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 Plumbing qualification.

Overview

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Multi-skilled Maintenance Operative with commercial building maintenance experience to join our highly regarded Maintenance team in Ilford. This role involves carrying out plumbing repairs, PPM's and other general building maintenance.

Rydon Maintenance Ltd provides a range of hard facilities management and property maintenance services in partnership with a range of NHS Trusts. We provide reactive and planned maintenance to a number of NHS buildings and we work to strict timescales and safety requirements to ensure the comfort and safety of service users using these NHS facilities. Job Purpose

Based on one of our key NHS contracts in Ilford, you will work as part of a team in a 'multi-trade' role completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM's) and reactive repairs basis to the buildings fabric and plant.

There will be a particular emphasis on plumbing work, which will include fault finding and repair work on a range of plumbing systems. You will also carry out other general maintenance works such as basic electrics and carpentry repairs.

In addition there will also be some planned maintenance activities such as planned upgrade works and refurbishment as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe environment for service users. You will work in a live secure healthcare environment and as such its important that proper protocols are followed at all times to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for staff and service users.

Normal working hours are 8am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. You will also have the opportunity to participate in an on-call rota system (which offers the opportunity to increase your earnings and be involved in additional urgent repairs).

Experience Required

Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of buildings is essential, ideally within the NHS. This experience might have been gained working directly for the NHS, or a maintenance contractor providing services within the NHS. We will also consider candidates with experience of maintaining other commercial properties (schools, offices, supermarkets etc).

You will have an NVQ or equivalent Level 2 or 3 Plumbing Qualification and have experience of carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on plumbing systems. You will also have the ability to undertake a range of other general building maintenance/repairs. This could include: basic electrics, painting, carpentry, plastering etc.

The successful candidate will also have excellent customer service skills and be passionate about providing high quality repairs.
