Fabric Engineer (static)

Contract: Key Account Network

Hours of work: 41.25

Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a skilled Fabric Engineer to deliver high-quality building services maintenance across the Basildon site.

This is a hands-on role with a focus on both planned and reactive maintenance, contributing to a safe and well-maintained working environment for all site users.

Role Summary

This is a static, site-based role requiring flexibility, multi-trade expertise, and a proactive approach. You will manage tasks issued via the helpdesk, undertake PPM schedules, and address reactive issues promptly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver fabric-related planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks via the helpdesk.
  • Undertake carpentry, painting, decorating, minor building works, roof repairs, and installation or repair of ceiling, wall, and floor tiles.
  • Conduct general building maintenance, including external works, plumbing, and mechanical system support.
  • Ensure timely resolution of reactive and planned maintenance issues to meet client expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using PDA devices and digital tools.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with health and safety protocols, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Act as a professional representative of the company on-site, providing excellent customer service.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements, repairs, or enhancements to building fabric and systems.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
  • Proven experience in multi-trade fabric maintenance, including carpentry, painting and decorating, minor building works, and general maintenance.
  • Skilled in both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) for building services.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Comfortable using PDA devices or other digital systems to manage tasks and record maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive, proactive, and professional approach to site-based work.
  • Basic plumbing and mechanical knowledge advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
