Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a skilled F35 Component Fabricator for a contract role in the Defence sector. You will undertake manufacturing and fabrication of aircraft components, interpreting technical drawings and working with NC/CNC machinery in a team-focused environment.

Core responsibilities include manufacturing, modifying, and repairing parts to strict standards while maintaining health and safety compliance in equipped workshops and hangars.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the aircraft industry, particularly tooling and machining.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, patterns, templates and specifications.
  • Proficient in operating NC, CNC and conventional machining tools.
  • Knowledge of mechanical fastening and fixing techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality checks.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the F-35 Aircraft Maintenance Manager and perform a range of fabrication activities on aircraft components.
  • Follow approved Technical Information and work within a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Manufacture, modify, and repair parts for aircraft and components to strict standards.
  • Operate drilling, milling, cutting, and forming equipment in workshops and hangars.
  • Utilise NC, CNC, conventional machining, bushing and assembly tools.
  • Work safely in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Interpret technical drawings, patterns, templates and specifications.
  • Use mechanical fasteners to join metal parts per procedures and quality standards.
  • Cut, drill, shape and prepare metal materials using manual and power tools.
  • Perform quality checks on components and assemblies, compile reports, escalate issues when needed.

Job description

Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence sector, is currently seeking a skilled F35 Component Fabricator for a contract role. This opportunity is within the context of military aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, providing an excellent chance to work on advanced defence projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the F-35 Aircraft Maintenance Manager and undertaking a range of manufacturing/fabrication activities on aircraft components
  • Following approved Technical Information and working effectively within a team in a dynamic operational environment
  • Manufacturing, modifying, and repairing parts for aircraft and components to strict standards
  • Utilising machinery such as drilling, milling, cutting, and forming equipment in equipped workshops and aircraft maintenance hangars
  • Operating NC, CNC, conventional machining, bushing, and assembly tools
  • Working safely at all times in compliance with health and safety legislation
  • Interpreting technical drawings, patterns, templates, and specifications
  • Utilising mechanical fasteners and fixing techniques to join metal parts according to approved procedures and quality standards
  • Cutting, drilling, shaping, and preparing metal materials using manual and power tools
  • Carrying out quality checks on component parts and completed assemblies, compiling appropriate reports, and escalating issues when necessary
Job Requirements
  • Experience in the aircraft industry, particularly in tooling and machining
  • Competence in working to maintenance instructions within an MOE framework
  • Proficiency in operating machining tools such as NC, CNC, and conventional machines
  • Understanding of technical drawings, patterns, templates, and specifications
  • Knowledge of mechanical fastening and fixing techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality checks
  • Commitment to working safely and complying with health and safety regulations
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
