Job summary

The Bodmin Jail Hotel is seeking a friendly Food & Beverage Assistant to join our team and deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests. You will greet guests, take orders, assist with menu selections, and ensure clean, well-presented dining areas.

As part of a dynamic, service-driven environment, you will work closely with kitchen staff, handle payments, and support events and busy periods. We value teamwork, reliability and a positive, guest-centred attitude.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Previous experience in food & beverage or a similar role is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Assist guests with menu selections and provide recommendations when taking orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring special dietary requests are communicated to the kitchen
• Set up and maintain dining areas, ensuring tables are clean and properly set with utensils, glassware, and tableware
• Monitor and respond to guests needs throughout their experience, including refilling drinks and clearing empty dishes
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring the safety and well-being of both guests and colleagues
• Process guest payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash and electronic transactions with integrity and precision
• Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared correctly and delivered in a timely manner
• Support your team members during busy periods and special events

The Role

Required Skills & Experience

• High school education or equivalent
• Previous experience in food & beverage or a similar role is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable attitude
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
