Job description

We are currently looking for an EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant to start ASAP. We are looking for someone to work in a school with young people with special educational needs. Class sizes are small with 5-10 pupils, a Teacher leading the classes and 3-5 support staff.

We are looking for someone from an EYFS background who can transfer their skills to a SEND classroom, you will be helping pupils reach their learning goals through creative and energetic teaching. We are looking for people who have a nurturing approach and a keen interest in helping young people with SEND reach their full potential.

The role
  • You will be working as part of a support team assisting the teacher in delivering lessons planned specifically for each pupil's need.
  • Using play and creativity to engage pupils
  • Contribute in creating a safe and nurturing environment for pupils
  • May be expected to fill in reading and learning journals
  • Report back to the teacher effectively
  • Assist at lunch and snack times
  • Support students in outside play activities whilst allowing space for independence
  • Work alongside therapists such as rebound therapists and music therapists to support the students educational and mental wellbeing
The ideal applicant
  • Will ideally have a childcare qualification or experience of working with young people at EYFS level
  • Willing to create strong relationships with staff, students and care providers
  • Passionate about working with young people with SEND
  • Great team player adding positivity to the staffing team
  • Flexible and reliable
