Job summary

London Borough of Havering is seeking an experienced EYFS Advisory Teacher to promote inclusive practice and high-quality SEND provision across the borough. The role forms part of the Experts at Hand programme, delivering specialist training, modelling practice and working with families to support children's development.

You will collaborate with schools, early years settings and multidisciplinary colleagues to empower practitioners and families with practical strategies for everyday learning

Qualifications

• Has substantial experience working within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Has a strong understanding of child development, SEND and inclusive practice in the early years.
• Has experience of delivering training, coaching or mentoring to practitioners.
• Can build positive and effective relationships with families, settings and professional colleagues.
• Has excellent communication, presentation and consultation skills.
• Is committed to inclusion and improving outcomes for young children with SEND.
• Can work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality training for early years settings, schools and childcare providers.
• Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to practitioners supporting children with emerging or identified SEND.
• Work directly with families, offering advice, practical strategies and support to help them understand and meet their child's developmental needs.
• Model effective interventions, strategies and inclusive approaches within educational settings.
• Support settings to develop and embed person-centred and graduated approaches to SEND support.
• Work collaboratively with Educational Psychologists, Therapists, Advisory Teachers and other professionals to provide coordinated support for children and families.
• Develop resources, guidance and training materials that promote inclusive practice and build sustainable SEND provision.
• Support settings to strengthen their understanding of child development, communication, interaction, learning and participation.
