Job summary

London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is seeking an experienced funding professional to turn ambitious ideas into funded projects across Richmond and Wandsworth. The role offers a two-year fixed-term contract until 30/09/2028, with a salary range of £46,206–£62,451, and is based at Wandsworth Town Hall/Richmond Civic Centre.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience securing external funding, ideally for a local authority.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of major UK, regional and NGO funding programmes.
  • Capable of working with senior stakeholders and elected members in a political environment, providing evidence-based recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills to build relationships with internal and external services and partners.
  • Managing competing priorities and using project management tools to balance service needs.

Responsibilities

  • Build powerful partnerships uniting people, services and information to strengthen bid prospects.
  • Shape the funding pipeline by assessing proposals and creating robust project ideas.
  • Lead the development of high-impact funding bids aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Identify new funding streams, including sponsorship and social investment opportunities.
  • Communicate opportunities to senior stakeholders and councillors, ensuring active bid oversight.
  • React quickly to funding announcements with data-driven recommendations on whether to bid.
  • Evaluate bids to strengthen outcomes and identify risks and required match funding.
