Job summary

The Skills Coalition in Birmingham is seeking experienced professionals for External Audit Senior/Manager roles. You will plan and lead external audits, supervise staff, and liaise with clients across SME to mid-market portfolios, with UK GAAP knowledge and IFRS exposure regarded as beneficial.

Qualifications

• Must have current UK accountancy practice experience.
• Strong external audit background (internal audit not relevant).
• ACA or ACCA qualification, finalist, or part-qualified with solid audit experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, run, and finalise external audit assignments from start to finish.
• Lead onsite audit teams and supervise junior staff during fieldwork.
• Assess controls, test audit areas, clear review points, and deliver high-quality files.
• Act as the day-to-day contact for clients during audits.
• Collaborate with Managers, Senior Managers and Partners on audit delivery.
• External audit remains the core focus; some accounts or compliance work may be undertaken.
