Responsibilities
- Ensure that our corporate plan and strategies are aligned and responsive to the external operating environment.
- Monitor the external environment, including regulatory and public policy changes, to keep strategies current.
- Support effective communication and interpretation of the corporate plan and strategies within the business.
- Assist the Executive Team in strategic reviews by providing analysis and insights.
- Maintain and update stakeholder management strategies to ensure effectiveness.
- Develop and lead stakeholder engagement initiatives to support the Corporate Plan.
- Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Monitor parliamentary, local, and devolved government updates relevant to policy areas, providing briefings to senior leaders and the board.
- Analyze insights to assess their impact on the business and inform decision-making.
- Build a network of senior contacts across the sector and regional stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for the organization's voice in regional and national forums and research projects.
- Provide timely briefings to senior colleagues on relevant news and influential individuals or organizations.
- Support external engagement activities, including conference presentations and briefings.
- Collaborate with communications teams and external agencies to develop strategic PR initiatives, including thought leadership and speaking opportunities.
- Manage reputation through stakeholder and media engagement, including crisis communications and proactive efforts.
- Create external networks and forums to advance the Corporate Plan.
- Attend sector and political events to stay informed and connected.
- Lead on stakeholder perception surveys in collaboration with external agencies.
- Oversee the External Affairs budget, including planning and monitoring expenditures.
The Successful Applicant
- Possess a professional qualification in communications and/or external affairs.
- Have experience advising colleagues at all levels, including executives.
- Be strategic and analytical with insight and intelligence.
- Excel in building and maintaining professional relationships.
- Have strong networking and influencing skills.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional presentation style.
- Be capable of clarifying complex information with high attention to detail.

Salary up to 55,500 pa plus attractive benefits. Hybrid working: typically 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.
