Job summary

Leonardo UK in Southampton is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to manage UK Export Control and Trade Compliance for our Southampton operations. The role combines on-site and home working within a hybrid model, with potential travel.

You will advise IPTs on UK export licences, MoD forms, and related requirements while supporting audits and ensuring records comply with HMRC and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of UK licensing, EU/US export controls, and strong

Qualifications

• Experienced export control/trade compliance practitioner with detailed knowledge of UK Export Licencing and Trade Controls.
• Good working knowledge of foreign import/export regulations, including EU/US ITAR/EAR regimes.
• Knowledge of UK/EU Customs regulations and related procedures.
• Presentation skills to deliver training and guidance across teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure record keeping to comply with HMRC and BIST regulations.
• Process re-exports of imported goods under Customs control and discharge liabilities.
• Advise IPTs on licensing requirements and UK export licences, including MoD forms and authorisations.
• Support internal/external audits related to Export Control and Trade Compliance.
• Manage UK Export Licensing submissions via SPIRE / LITE to ECJU.
• Coordinate import clearance instructions to freight agents for timely customs clearance.
