Job Title: Expert Practitioner

As an Expert Practitioner, you’ll support excellence in teaching, learning and assessment by supporting new and experienced staff. You would contribute to the delivery of HE teacher education programmes, and emerging various technologies, for example, AI and VR. You would also be teaching once a week in your specialist subject area.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and support to all teachers across the college.
  • Advocate the use of innovative teaching strategies and digital technologies.
  • Lead and contribute to CPD sessions.
  • Collaborate with the college’s ILT team to research, develop and lead on the integration of technologies such as AI and VR.
  • Model best practice and high-impact teaching, learning and assessment across curriculum teams.
  • Contribute to quality improvement processes, including lesson observations, learning walks and the development of teaching resources.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Education to level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in a relevant subject area or equivalent.
  • Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent.
  • Relevant teaching qualification. A Degree/Postgraduate qualification or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Coaching/mentoring qualification.
  • Level 7 qualification or working towards, ideally Masters in Education.
  • Assessor/Verifier qualification.
Essential Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching in an FE environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of current pedagogical practices and innovations in a further education setting.
  • Using digital and emerging technologies (e.g. AI/VR) to support teaching and learning.
  • Coaching and mentoring in an education context.
  • Observation of teaching, learning and assessment across a range of provision including apprenticeships.
Desirable Experience:
  • Delivering ITE programmes.
  • Design and delivery of cross college CPD activities.
