We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and proactive Support Worker to provide 1:1 care for a 24-year-old man with Autism, ADHD, and complex needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference by offering consistent support at home, during school transport, and in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent, person-centred support at home and in the community
- Escort to and from school via taxi
- Support the development and maintenance of independent living skills
- Assist with managing clinical anxiety and sensory processing needs
- Accompany to weekly swimming sessions (must be a confident swimmer)
- Encourage participation in social and recreational activities
- Complete daily activity records and support planning
About the Individual
- Has a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD
- Experiences audio sensory delay (3–4 seconds to process spoken language)
- Is learning to self-manage clinical anxiety
- Requires physiotherapy and benefits from weekly swimming
- Lives with Trichotillomania and mild scoliosis
- Has a strong dislike of injections and blood tests
Ideal Candidate
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting adults with Autism and ADHD
- PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) trained or willing to undertake training
- Confident swimmer – able to provide support in the water
- Skilled in supporting individuals with sensory processing difficulties
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a wider care team
- Patient, respectful, and emotionally attuned to individual needs
