Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is recruiting for a Design & Technology Technician at a Wolverhampton secondary school. This Full-Time (Term Time Only) role starts January 2027 (or ASAP) and offers a competitive pay scale dependent on experience within the Inner London Scale reference.

You will work closely with teaching staff to keep workshops running smoothly, maintain machinery, prep materials, and assist students in bringing their creative product designs to life.

Qualifications

• Experience as a school DT technician or hands-on trade work in carpentry, engineering, or product design.
• Strong workshop safety knowledge and ability to operate machinery safely.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software or 3D printing is a plus.

From maintaining machinery and prepping materials to helping students bring their creative product designs to life, your expertise will help inspire the next generation of designers and engineers.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Your Background: You might have worked as a school DT technician before, or perhaps you bring practical trade experience in carpentry, engineering, or product design.

Safety First: You have a strong grasp of workshop safety protocols and machinery (band saws, drills, laser cutters, etc).

Tech-Savvy: Knowledge of CAD/CAM software or 3D printing is a big plus!

Organized & Proactive: You love keeping things running like clockwork and working independently.
