Job description

Experienced Conveyancer | Shirebrook | Full Time | £35,000–£55,000 per annum

Our client is a friendly, multi-disciplinary high street law firm with offices in Mansfield, Shirebrook and Nottingham. They specialise in criminal defence, family law, conveyancing and wills and probate, providing high-quality legal services through legal aid or at affordable prices.

The Role

They are seeking an experienced Conveyancer to join their residential conveyancing team and manage their own caseload of property transactions. The workload mainly involves freehold sales and purchases, alongside leasehold and new-build transactions.

You will need strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills and a client-focused approach, with the ability to manage transactions independently and resolve complex title issues. The firm is looking for someone who can work confidently without training in the core conveyancing process, with a short settling‑in period available.

You will be supported by a dedicated assistant, with file opening and post‑completion registrations handled by other team members. You will report to the Head of Department/Partner, who will be available for supervision and technical queries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing a caseload of approximately 40–60 residential conveyancing files, primarily involving new instructions
  • Handling freehold sales and purchases, alongside leasehold and new‑build transactions
  • Managing title investigations, searches, enquiries, contract packs, exchange and completion
  • Dealing with complex conveyancing matters, including chains, unregistered properties, shared ownership, transfers of equity, remortgages and lease extensions
  • Managing client and third‑party communications independently, with support from an assistant
  • Carrying out detailed source of funds checks and meeting relevant compliance requirements
  • Handling Land Registry requisitions arising from post‑completion registrations
  • Maintaining accurate, organised files and ensuring transactions progress efficiently
  • Delegating appropriate administrative tasks to your assistant
  • Working closely with the Head of Department/Partner, seeking technical guidance where required
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years' residential conveyancing experience
  • Non-qualified candidates must have at least 10 years' fee‑earning conveyancing experience
  • Proven ability to manage an independent caseload of residential conveyancing files
  • Full working knowledge of the residential conveyancing process, including title investigations, searches, enquiries, contract packs, exchange and completion
  • Experience handling freehold sales and purchases
  • Experience dealing with Land Registry requisitions
  • Ability to deal with complex title issues and a range of residential property transactions
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A client‑focused approach and the ability to manage client and third‑party communications independently
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements, including detailed source of funds checks
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload without requiring training in core conveyancing procedures
  • Qualified as a Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Experience in both leasehold and new‑build conveyancing
  • Experience using OneAdvanced case management software
  • Experience supervising colleagues or taking on team leadership responsibilities
What’s In It For You
  • Salary of £35,000–£55,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience
  • Dedicated administrative support, with each fee earner having their own assistant
  • A friendly and supportive working environment
  • Office‑based role, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
  • Potential electric vehicle scheme
  • Support from the Head of Department/Partner for supervision and technical queries
  • Opportunities for career progression, potentially into a supervisory position, Deputy Head of Department and eventually Head of Department
