Ashfords in Exeter is recruiting an Associate (3-6 PQE) to join our public sector team specialising in procurement law.

You will advise local authorities, utilities, government bodies on non-contentious matters and support the disputes team on procurement challenges. This is a brilliant opportunity to develop expertise across major public sector projects nationwide within a high-performing, supportive firm.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with public sector clients or in-house for a public sector body.
• Experience of public procurement law is essential.
• Wider public sector contracts and subsidy control are desirable, but not essential.
• Strong communicator with good drafting and analytical skills; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-contentious advice on public sector procurement rules, contracts, grant funding, subsidy control and local authority vires.
• Work with colleagues across the firm on major public sector projects across the UK and support the disputes team with procurement-related challenges.
• Report to and work closely with a Partner to deliver advice and grow the firm's public sector offering.
• Contribute to developing client relationships and maintaining high professional standards.
