Join a collaborative and friendly team in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office as a Governance Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in governance or legal administration to support the University\'s Board of Governors, its senior committees and shape institutional decision-making. You will work closely with the Head of Secretariat to provide high-quality administrative and governance support, including servicing the Board, its senior committees, the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and Operations Team.

This role is a key point of contact for colleagues, Governors, and external stakeholders, providing advice on governance matters and ensuring the effective operation of our most senior governing bodies. The position offers significant scope for professional development in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Hybrid Working

This role offers a hybrid working model. While regular attendance at the office is required for in-person meetings or as business needs require, the remainder of your work can be performed remotely.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality professional administrative support to the Head of Secretariat and senior university committees
  • Service the Board, SLT, and other senior committees, including precise and efficient minute-taking
  • Act as a central source of expert advice and guidance on governance procedures for internal and external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
  • Degree educated, ideally with a relevant qualification in governance / law
  • Significant experience managing and servicing boards and senior-level committees
  • A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and statutory compliance
  • A strategic mindset with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to take formal, high-quality minutes with a short turnaround time
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • A proactive, independent, and meticulous approach to your work
  • Excellent IT, written, and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to respond effectively to non-routine situations.
