Job summary

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is seeking a dynamic Head of Children and Young People Services to lead and shape a broad portfolio of children's services. You will drive improvements, ensure safeguarding, and work with elected members and partners to deliver high-quality outcomes for children, families and communities across Wales.

A qualified social worker with senior leadership experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker registered with Social Care Wales.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across Children and Young People Services to drive improvement and ensure safeguarding and positive outcomes for children and families.
• Lead a wide range of children’s services including safeguarding, looked after children, fostering, family support, youth justice, early intervention and related services.
• Act as the Council's principal adviser on Children and Young People Services and collaborate with partners to shape regional and national partnerships and drive service delivery improvements.
• Ensure services meet statutory duties, are financially sustainable, and deliver high-quality outcomes; oversee budget management and organisational performance.
