Job summary

Natural Resources Wales is seeking an Executive Director, Place Operations to lead Wales’ largest Welsh Government‑sponsored body. You will steward safe, lawful and high‑quality place‑based delivery through seven Heads of Place, aligning local needs with national strategy.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification or equivalent executive experience.
• Significant experience operating at Executive/Director level in a large, publicly accountable organisation.
• Proven ability to lead large scale operational, regulatory or service delivery functions.
• Track record of corporate leadership beyond functional boundaries and organisational delivery improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership to Place Operations, ensuring safe, lawful and effective delivery across Wales.
• Shape strategy and governance for operational performance, risk and delivery.
• Lead through Heads of Place and senior management to achieve outcomes for communities and natural resources.
• Build trusted relationships with Welsh Government, regulators and stakeholders to influence delivery and public value.
• Drive organisational transformation, resilience and continuous improvement across NRW.
