Job description
Overview

Wixams Academy is a comprehensive academy serving approximately 950 pupils in September 2023, including 120 pupils in the Sixth Form. Established in 2017 with 80 students, the academy is expanding annually towards 1,750 students and 200 staff by 2030. It collaborates with Bedford Borough Council and the Department for Education to increase capacity and recently merged with Knowledge Schools Trust (KST) to create a local hub for further regional growth. The academy is located one mile south of Bedford town centre and serves a mixed community with broad national representation.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a key point of contact between the Headteacher and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Manage the Headteacher’s calendar, correspondence, and administrative tasks with discretion and efficiency.
  • Prepare and coordinate documentation, briefings, and reports to support leadership and governance.
  • Support the Headteacher with organisation and follow‑up of key meetings, including minute taking where required.
  • Provide administrative support to the wider Senior Leadership Team, including coordination of academy events and communications.
  • Line‑manage designated administrative staff, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism.
  • Contribute to the effective running of the school by promoting efficient administrative systems aligned with the academy’s values and aims.
