Job description
Executive Support Assistant

Could you be the driving force behind our leadership team?

Are you organised, adaptable, and able to build strong working relationships?

Do you thrive in a fast‑paced environment, supporting senior leaders to deliver their best for our community?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our People & Culture team as an Executive Support Assistant. As part of our wider Leadership Support Service, you’ll play a vital role in helping our Assistant Directors make the most of their time so they can focus on what matters most for North East Lincolnshire.

This role is at the heart of our commitment to valuing people, honesty, continuous improvement, openness, and integrity. You’ll be empowered to work closely with senior leaders, providing confidential and comprehensive administrative support that keeps everything running smoothly.

What will your day look like?
  • Proactively manage diaries and emails, ensuring our Assistant Directors’ time is used effectively.
  • Act as the first point of contact, handling sensitive correspondence and calls with professionalism and discretion.
  • Organise meetings, prepare agendas, take accurate minutes, and follow up on actions.
  • Support a wide range of stakeholders, including elected members, with tact and diplomacy.
  • Manage finance tasks, compliance checks, and arrange travel or events as needed.
  • Use your initiative to flag deadlines, monitor tasks, and ensure nothing is missed.
  • Adapt to new challenges and working practices as our organisation evolves.
Who are we looking for?
  • Experience supporting senior managers, ideally in a large or public sector organisation.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office and business support systems.
  • Ability to analyse information, solve problems, and provide clear advice.
  • A methodical, detail‑oriented approach and the ability to manage a busy workload.
  • Discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential matters.
  • A commitment to your own professional development.
Why join us?

You’ll be part of a supportive team, working at the heart of North East Lincolnshire Council’s leadership. We offer a detailed induction, ongoing training, and opportunities to develop your skills. Some out‑of‑hours work may be required for evening meetings, but you’ll be empowered to manage your own time and priorities.

If you’re ready to play a key role in supporting our leaders and making a real impact for our community, we’d love to hear from you!
