Bolton Council is seeking a detail-focused, customer‑minded administrator to join the Exchequer Services team. You will process payments and invoices, run reports, and handle data with accuracy in a busy office environment.
No prior financial role is required as training will be provided; you will need administrative experience, the ability to meet deadlines, and strong teamwork skills to support colleagues and the service.
Grade D scp 6 £25,989 to scp 11 £28,241 pay award pending
Contract: Permanent x1, Fixed term x1 12 months
Hours: 37 per week

Are you looking for an exciting, new role which will allow you to utilise your existing skills in a fast paced, customer focused service which is integral to supporting the wider Council? If so, this could be the role for you.
Working in a busy office environment, you will be part of the Council’s Exchequer Services, in one of three teams, responsible for providing payment functions for the council. The role involves processing payments and invoices, running reports, checking data and dealing with enquiries. You will support the wider Exchequer Services team, which includes the Council’s Accounts Payable, Payroll and Pension functions, to provide an efficient and responsive service to Council colleagues and external customers.
A good communicator with excellent customer service skills, you’ll be task focussed and motivated to get the job done. You should detail-orientated and a team player who has a proactive approach to work to support your colleagues and the service.
Previous experience in a financial role is not essential as training will be provided, but you’ll need to have administrative experience and be able to follow instructions and work to strict deadlines. Knowledge or experience of processing payments and managing data electronically would be an advantage.
