Job description

We are seeking to appoint an organised, efficient and enthusiastic Exam Officer. As a brand‑new school, in an exciting phase of growth and development we will see our first cohort of students sit their exams in summer 2026. This role will suit someone excited to be part of a new team, happy to take on a variety of duties, and in its first year looking to develop their own skills as the role evolves.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinating exam entries, timetables, and seating plans.
  • Ensuring compliance with JCQ regulations and exam board requirements.
  • Managing secure storage and distribution of exam papers.
  • Recruiting and training invigilators.
  • Overseeing post‑exam processes such as results services and data returns.

The post holder will work 14.5 hours per week (0.4 FTE) across 40 weeks of the year and will also be required to work at least two days in August to support A‑level results. There is flexibility in how these hours are distributed across the academic year, and the scope to adjust depending on the needs of the role. Please note that hours and working days will increase during exam periods.

Qualifications
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience in an administrative or organisational role (education setting desirable).
  • Commitment to the vision and values of Surrey Maths School.
  • Knowledge of JCQ regulations and exam board procedures is desirable but not essential – training will be provided.
