Job description

We have a brilliant opportunity for a Exams Managerto join the team on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £38,237-£40,568 per annum.

Wessex Education Shared Services (WESS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Brockenhurst College. We provide a wide range of services to the College including: financial management, payroll, human resources, examinations, student records and data returns processing and IT Software development.

About the role:

As the Exams Manager, you will lead and manage all aspects of the College’s examinations provision across the campuses, ensuring compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations, and maintaining the integrity, security and efficiency of the examination process.


Responsibilities as our Exams Manager will include:
  • Overseeing the administration, timetabling, rooming, resourcing and delivery of examinations and assessments across all campuses.
  • Ensuring accurate exams entries, access arrangements, special consideration requests and results processing.
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
  • Taking responsibility for leading, supervising and managing line reports in line with college practice and policies.
  • Chair regular meetings with the Exams Team and support Faculty Meetings as required by the College Calendar.
  • Representing the views of the Exams Team in meetings, feeding ideas and decisions to the staff in the area.
  • Demonstrating an awareness and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion as well as safeguarding.
  • Taking responsibility for health and safety in the Exams Area, ensuring that staff and students adhere to the College’s Health and Safety Policy at all time and reporting and following up issues with the Assistant Principal/Health and Safety Partner as appropriate.
  • Carrying out other reasonable requests as may be required from time to time by the Senior Leadership Team.
As our Exams Manager, you’ll ideally have:
  • Level 3 qualification
  • Strong IT and administrative skills
  • In depth knowledge of JCQ and awarding body regulations
  • Experience in exams administration
  • Commitment to represent and embed a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion across the work of the College.
  • A strong understanding of JCQ regulations and exam processes
  • Experience of working with awarding organisations. For example, Pearson, AQA, City and Guilds, registering, entries and claiming qualifications
