Job summary

A prominent media organization is seeking an Events & Engagement Apprentice in London. This role combines hands-on experience in event management with formal training. THE C4 APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

Channel 4 offers an apprenticeship that combines full‑time work with formal learning. Apprentices work four days a week in a C4 department and one day a week completes formal learning. You will spend 60% of your working week in the office and 40% working from home. Formal training includes workshops, tutorials, webinars, coaching and, in some cases, residential boot camps. The qualification offered is Event Assistant Level 3.

Eligibility
  • You must be 18 years old or over when the scheme starts. There is no upper age limit.
  • You’ll need a Grade C (4) or above in Maths & English GCSE.
  • You cannot have already completed the qualification being offered or a similar qualification at the same or higher level.

Department Description

Corporate Relations is a business‑leading function that promotes, protects and enhances the Channel 4 brand and reputation among stakeholder groups. It is strategic, aligned and proactive, and works across the organisation. It comprises the Corporate Communications & Campaigns team, the Corporate Brand team, the Internal Communications team and the Events & Engagement team – the base for this apprenticeship.

The Events & Engagement team is busy and proactive, using live experiences to build relationships with key business stakeholders. It works with all departments to curate, design and deliver events of all shapes, sizes and tones, and encourages cross‑collaboration for better ROI.

Key Responsibilities

As an apprentice you will support the wider Events team in creating, developing and implementing the annual events calendar. Specific tasks will vary by project, but you can expect the following list of duties:

  • Idea generation for new event concepts, suppliers and venues
  • Guestlist management
  • Supplier management on specific briefs to ensure on‑time and in‑budget delivery
  • Responsibility for accommodation and travel for guests and on‑screen talent attending events
  • Collation and creation of visual event assets
  • Market research for the latest event trends and tech
  • Ad‑hoc event support

At the start you will support events managed by the team; as you grow you will take increased responsibility and eventually own and deliver your own events toward the later stages of the apprenticeship. Be prepared for early mornings, late evenings and occasional UK trips. Time in lieu and travel/accommodation will be compensated where appropriate.

Essential Experience & Skills

Applicants will provide evidence of how they meet the following criteria. Examples may be from work, volunteering or academics.

  • Verbal and written communication skills – e.g., customers, teamwork, writing emails or creative writing.
  • Attention to detail – e.g., cashing up tills or proofreading coursework.
  • Organisation and prioritisation – e.g., planning events or handling coursework.
  • An understanding of and a passion for Channel 4’s remit and output.
  • Maths & English GCSE Grade C (4) or above.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; other computer literacy skills are a plus.
  • Demonstrated desire to work in the events industry.
