Overview

Job Title: Evening Shift Assistant Manager

Location: Norwich

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 15:00-00:00; Friday, 15:00-19:00

Position Overview

we are currently working alongside a thriving manufacturing business who are looking for an Evening Shift Assistant Manager to join their team as part of their rapid and continued growth. The successful candidate will support the Production Manager in overseeing all evening shift operations, ensuring that production schedules are met in full, quality standards are maintained, and health and safety requirements are consistently upheld. This is a hands on role that is set to grow in terms of responsibility and direct reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of evening shift operations, from fabrication through to despatch, to ensure the achievement of production, quality, and OTIF (On Time In Full) targets.
  • Work collaboratively with the Shift Engineer to ensure that any faults or breakdowns are addressed promptly and effectively, maintaining optimal production flow.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to a medium-sized team across multiple disciplines, fostering a positive, motivated, and performance-driven culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, quality procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor shift performance and production data, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput including movement of labour across the factory.
  • Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives in line with lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Liaise effectively with the Production Manager and other shift leaders to ensure smooth handovers and consistent communication across shifts.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence throughout the shift.
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally within the fenestration, or related fabrication industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality assurance, and production flow management with a clear focus on Health and Safety.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach, with a strong commitment to achieving production and safety objectives
