Job summary

ELHT is seeking a Catering Assistant to join Furness General Hospital's catering team in Barrow-in-Furness. This part-time role (20 hours/week) involves 4:00pm–8:00pm shifts, weekends, and requires Foundation Food Hygiene knowledge plus good customer service. Induction and full training provided.

You will assist with food prep, ward-level patient feeding, and uphold HACCP/health & safety standards. DBS checks apply; salary £25,272 pro rata per annum.

Qualifications

• Possess or willing to work towards Foundation Food Hygiene Qualification.
• Possess or willing to work towards NVQ Level 2 Hospitality/Customer Care.
• Knowledge of HACCP.
• Knowledge of cross contamination in a Health Care setting.
• Be able to demonstrate an understanding of Manual Handling techniques.
• Knowledge of COSHH /HACCP Regulations.
• Previous experience of working in a large Catering Establishment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety.
• Understanding and having knowledge on Allergens.
• Having an understanding of Allergens.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation, cleaning, and supporting patient feeding at ward level.
• Excellent customer service skills; experience in catering industry preferred.
• Completion of audit forms associated with food safety and procedures.
