Job summary

City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Flexible Cleaning Operative based at James Gillespie's High School. The role is 10 hours per week, 52 weeks, with a pro-rata salary of £26,205 to £26,525 and an evening pattern Monday to Friday 18:00–20:00.

You will join the Facilities Management team to keep our school clean, safe and welcoming for staff and learners. The post offers secure permanent employment, flexible hours, a pension scheme and opportunities to progress.

Qualifications

• PVG scheme required for role.
• Overseas Criminal Record Check may be required after travel abroad.
• Pre-employment checks must be satisfactory.

Responsibilities

• Empty litter and recycling bins.
• Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings.
• Clean sanitary areas, toilets and showers; replenish washroom supplies.
• Emergency and reactive cleaning as required.
• Care and cleanliness of equipment used.
• Support cleaning tasks across other buildings when needed.
• Deliver cleaning to meet the specified standards.
