Job summary

Austen Partners is seeking an experienced European Long/Short Equity Analyst to join its investment team. You will contribute to the generation of differentiated ideas and engage in deep fundamental research across European equities.

As a generalist with room to tilt sectors, you will build investment theses, model earnings and cash flows, and work with portfolio managers to construct high-conviction positions. A medium-term mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant investment experience in long/short European equities.
• Proven track record of generating actionable short ideas.
• Strong financial modelling and valuation skills.
• Intellectual curiosity and ability to understand businesses deeply.
• Excellent communication and ability to articulate investment ideas.

Responsibilities

• Originating and developing long and short ideas (approximately 3-4 per month).
• Conducting deep fundamental research and building investment theses.
• Working closely with portfolio managers to construct high-conviction positions.
• Assessing where consensus misprices fundamentals and updating theses accordingly.
• Monitoring positions and communicating ideas clearly to the team.
