The Role

An established and growing residential construction company based in St Albans is seeking an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor. The role will focus on residential new build and refurbishment projects, supporting the commercial function from tender stage through to final account.

This position would suit a commercially aware professional with experience in residential or refurbishment works who is looking to join a stable business with clear progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates and tenders for residential and refurbishment projects
• Carry out quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
• Price labour, materials, and subcontract packages
• Assist with subcontractor and supplier procurement
• Manage cost control, valuations, variations, and final accounts
• Monitor budgets and report cost versus value
• Liaise with site teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors
• Support commercial reporting and forecasting

Requirements

• Previous experience in an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor role within residential and/or refurbishment projects
• Strong understanding of construction methods and costs
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Competent in Excel and relevant estimating/QS software
