Estimator / Quantity Surveyor – Flooring Contractor

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire (Hybrid working available)

Salary:

• Estimator: £60,000 – £65,000 per annum
• Quantity Surveyor: £70,000 – £75,000 per annum

Package: Company car / allowance + pension + bonus + hybrid flexibility

Key Responsibilities

Estimator Duties

• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for flooring tenders and projects.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documents to produce competitive quotations.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Assist in value engineering and cost analysis.
• Support pre‑contract handovers to ensure a smooth transition to delivery teams.

Quantity Surveyor Duties

• Manage the commercial delivery of flooring projects from start to completion.
• Prepare valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Oversee subcontractor accounts, procurement, and payments.
• Maintain accurate cost tracking and forecasting.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure commercial compliance and profitability across all projects.

About You

• Proven experience in flooring, interiors, fit‑out, or specialist subcontracting.
• Solid commercial understanding of estimating and/or QS functions.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good communication and negotiation skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Confident IT user (Excel, estimating software, etc.).
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally to sites or clients.
