Job summary

Turner & Townsend is recruiting an Estimator with energy or infrastructure experience to work on high-profile UK projects. You will produce detailed resource-based estimates to evaluate design changes, maintain baseline costs, and challenge contractor estimates.

Report to the Regional Estimating Manager. Responsibilities include managing estimating processes, advancing estimating best practices, supporting departmental objectives, and contributing to a regional Estimating Hub while staying

Qualifications

• Qualified to high standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with proven relevant experience.
• Wide and varied experience of construction projects; onshore oil and gas preferred.
• Experience providing estimating/QS services in large project environments.
• Understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes.
• Familiar with RIB Construction Suite and iTWO at intermediate level.
• Chartered status and degree in QS or related field; RICS/CIOB membership desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, comprehensive estimates for projects in a timely manner.
• Control and manage estimating processes at project level.
• Prepare estimates without supervision and support best-practice in estimating.
• Assist in achieving departmental objectives and promote estimating excellence.
• Stay updated on developments to provide best-practice guidance.
• Help drive an Estimating Hub in the region.

Job Description

We are looking to recruit an Estimator with proven energy or infrastructure experience to undertake duties on a number of high‑profile projects in the UK. The Estimator will be working as part of the client’s Estimating function, producing detailed resourced based estimates to evaluate design changes, maintain the baseline cost, and challenge contractors’ estimates. You will report directly to our Regional Estimating Manager.

Job Objectives / Responsibilities

• Production of accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects in a timely and efficient manner. Control and management of the estimating process at project level.
• Production of estimates without management or supervision.
• Supporting development and promotion of estimating good practice within Turner & Townsend.
• Assisting in the achievement of departmental objectives.
• Staying abreast of developments within own technical area of expertise to give best practice advice in line with business objectives.
• Active member in developing and driving an Estimating Hub in the region.

Qualifications

• Qualified to high standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with proven relevant experience.
• Wide and varied experience of construction projects; preferably some experience in onshore oil and gas projects.
• Relevant successful experience of provision of estimating and/or QS services in a large project environment.
• Understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes.
• Capacity to use RIB Construction Suite/iTWO to Intermediate User standard.
• Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
• Preferred degree in quantity surveying or associated construction field.
• Desirable membership of RICS / CIOB.
