Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in an estimating role within Design & Build, Main Contracting, or Modular Construction.
  • Knowledge of JCT D&B and NEC3 contract forms is advantageous.
  • Commercially astute with excellent organization and time management.

Job description

We are looking to appoint an Estimator for our client who are a well known manufacturing business based in the East Riding. As Estimator you will be rresponsible for preparing accurate tenders, quotations, and cost plans from client enquiries. The Estimator will provide early-stage budget advice and support the pre-construction process from initial design through to contract award.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, tender submissions, and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise directly with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather and assess pricing information.
  • Develop and issue enquiry packages and manage the timely return of quotations.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and schedules to complete take-offs and measurements.
  • Evaluate subcontractor returns, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal pre-construction and sales teams to align proposals with client expectations.
  • Maintain accurate tender records and ensure consistency across all submissions.
Qualifications
  • Strong numerical skills with good knowledge of current construction rates.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • JCT D&B and NEC3 contract forms experience (advantageous).
  • Commercially astute and detail-focused.
  • Excellent organisation and time management, with the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Construction (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an estimating role within Design & Build, Main Contracting, or Modular Construction.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of modular construction desirable.
