Job description

Our client is a well‑established residential groundworks contractor, specialising in infrastructure civils, earthworks, and plot groundworks. They are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Estimator to join their team based in Sheffield.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in estimating within the groundworks industry to contribute to a reputable contractor known for delivering high-quality residential and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare competitive tenders and detailed cost estimates
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation
• Help compile bills of quantities and material take‑offs
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations
• Attend pre‑tender and post‑tender meetings as required
• Learn to identify and evaluate commercial risks and opportunities in civil/groundworks packages

Requirements:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Proven experience in estimating within the civil engineering or groundworks sector.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
