Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group in Potters Bar is seeking an estimator to join their Tier-1 infrastructure team. You will build bids for substations and data centres, focusing on labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, and regulatory fees. Experience with HV/EHV works up to 132kV is essential.

You will use Causeway and Excel to craft robust estimates, coordinating with delivery and commercial teams to ensure winning tenders and smooth handover of projects.

Qualifications

• HV & EHV cable and civils installations up to 132kV experience is required.
• Experience pricing specialist civils such as HDD and working to DNO G81 specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, anticipate risk early and shape the bid strategy with colleagues.
• Compile tender submissions, issue and evaluate subcontract enquiries, and support final bid review and sign-off with senior managers.
• Build first-principles estimates in Causeway (and Excel) covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, traffic management and Local Authority fees - keeping cost models current.
• Gather inputs behind a robust price from Gazetteer data, permits and restrictions, quotations from Procurement, and outputs and programme from Delivery.
• Lead pre- and post-tender commercial activity, from client clarifications to BAFO reviews, then hand won schemes over to Delivery team and QS

We are looking for an estimator to join a reputable Tier-1 specialist infrastructure engineering contractor based in potters Bar. Our client has an outstanding turnover of over £350mill. Our client works across new build/refurbishments of substations & Data Centres £30-70m. This is a great opportunity that doesn't come around often!

The role:

• Review tender documents, anticipate risk early and shape the bid strategy with colleagues.
• Compile tender submissions, issue and evaluate subcontract enquiries, and support final bid review and sign-off with senior managers.
• Build first-principles estimates in Causeway (and Excel) covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, traffic management and Local Authority fees - keeping cost models current.
• Gather the inputs behind a robust price - Gazetteer data, permits and restrictions from Street Works and Planning, quotations from Procurement, and outputs and programme from Delivery, including site surveys where needed.
• Lead pre- and post-tender commercial activity, from client clarifications to BAFO reviews, then hand won schemes over to the Delivery team and QS

You should have:

• Experience of HV & EHV cable and civils installations up to 132kV
• Experience with Causeway estimating software (training provided if not)
• Experience pricing specialist civils such as HDD, or working to DNO G81 specifications; MS Project
