Job description

As a Senior Estimator in Nottingham, you'll play a key role within the pre‑construction team, leading pricing and tendering activities for construction projects valued between £1M and £30M. Based in a dynamic office environment, you’ll report directly to the Pre‑Construction Manager and contribute significantly to securing a strong pipeline of work. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Construction Estimator or Cost Estimator to influence bid strategies and support business growth across multiple sectors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and manage tender evaluations to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
• Analyse project requirements, specifications and drawings to identify risks and opportunities
• Oversee subcontractor and supplier enquiries to obtain competitive quotations and ensure value for money
• Collaborate closely with pre‑construction and project teams to develop robust bid strategies
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of market trends, materials pricing and labour costs across the construction sector
• Support post‑tender negotiations and provide cost breakdowns as required

To be successful in this Senior Estimator job in Nottingham, you will bring proven experience working within a main contracting construction environment on similar value schemes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience as a Construction Estimator, Senior Estimator or Cost Estimator within the construction industry
• Ideally from a main contractor background with framework experience
• Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts, construction processes and industry best practices
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proficient in using estimating software, quantity takeoff tools and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
• Relevant qualifications such as HNC/HND in Construction or Quantity Surveying are highly desirable
