Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD, a Bristol-based specialist roofing and cladding contractor, is seeking an estimator with some experience to join the team. You will handle take-offs, prepare estimates and manage tenders with guidance from senior staff.

As an Employee Ownership Trust business, staff share in success through a tax-free annual bonus up to 3,600, plus pension, ongoing training and a 20 day holiday entitlement (plus bank holidays).

Qualifications

• Some estimating experience within roofing, cladding, building envelope or related
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Numerically strong with keen attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Full UK driving licence and commutable distance from Bristol

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates for roofing, cladding, SFS and building envelope packages
• Carry out take-offs from drawings and specifications
• Manage tenders from enquiry to submission
• Populate pricing schedules and bills of quantities
• Coordinate with premium system manufacturers for specs and pricing
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings when required
• Liaise with clients, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors
• Research costs to keep pricing competitive
• Maintain records of tender submissions, queries and RFIs
• Support handover of secured projects to delivery team
• Develop knowledge with mentoring from senior team

Job description

This is a genuine opportunity to develop a long-term estimating career within an established Bristol-based specialist roofing and cladding contractor. The business has been trading for over 25 years, recently transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust, and delivers building envelope packages nationwide for major main contractors and housebuilders including the likes of Barratt London and Midas Group. The company covers the full building envelope, from roofing and cladding through to SFS framing systems, insulation and fixings, working with premium manufacturer partners such as Kingspan, Eurobond, Ash Lacy, FrameClad SFS, Encon and Fixfast. Recent and ongoing projects have included high-rise residential blocks, education and public sector schemes and commercial developments across the South West, Wales, the Midlands, Devon and London. This role is not looking for a very senior estimator. The right candidate will have some relevant experience and the appetite to grow into the role with real mentoring and support. Estimator Job Overview

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for roofing, cladding, SFS and wider building envelope packages
• Carry out take-offs from drawings and specifications, calculating labour, material and preliminary costs
• Manage tenders from initial enquiry through to submission within required deadlines
• Populate and submit client pricing schedules and bills of quantities
• Coordinate with premium system manufacturers to confirm technical specifications and pricing
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required
• Liaise with clients, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors to clarify scope
• Research current material, labour and plant costs to ensure pricing remains competitive
• Maintain accurate records of tender submissions, queries and RFIs
• Support handover of secured projects to the delivery team
• Develop your knowledge and skill set with support from the senior commercial team

Estimator Requirements

• Some relevant estimating experience within roofing, cladding, building envelope or a closely related trade discipline
• Understanding of composite panel, SFS framing, insulation, non-combustible facade or standard roofing systems is advantageous
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Numerically strong with a keen eye for detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Confident communicator, able to liaise professionally with clients, suppliers and site teams
• A proactive attitude and genuine appetite to develop within the role
• Full UK driving licence
• Based within commutable distance of Bristol
