Job description

White Label Recruitment is working on behalf of a key client to recruit an experienced Estimator. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in estimating within shopfitting, manufactured metal, and joinery products.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed estimates to support the successful delivery of projects. The role requires close collaboration with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure tenders are prepared efficiently and projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take briefs from the Estimating Manager and/or clients.
  • Review and understand job-specific tender requirements and contractual terms.
  • Prepare tender packages for suppliers, subcontractors, and incumbent factories.
  • Liaise with the supply base throughout the tender process, answering queries and ensuring timely receipt of quotations.
  • Prepare multiple, accurate estimates using Microsoft Excel, incorporating materials and workshop labour for operations such as machining, joinery, assembly, and welding.
  • Analyse supplier tender returns and suggest value engineering (VE) solutions.
  • Submit tender documents to the Estimating Manager promptly.
  • Liaise with clients post-tender, answering queries and making necessary amendments.
  • Handover projects to the delivery team and collaborate with various departments to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget.
  • Attend prestart meetings as required.
Experience and Skills Required
  • Minimum 5 years' estimating experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in shopfitting, manufactured metal, and joinery products is essential.
  • Experience in fit-out or refurbishment estimating is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent administrative, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Strong mathematical proficiency and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Fully computer literate, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
