Overview

ESTEP is the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service that covers South East Essex. We are looking for an experienced mental health nurse to become an EIP Care Co-ordinator for a fixed-term 2-month maternity cover.

ESTEP is recruiting an experienced mental health nurse with community experience, ideally within an EIP setting, who has a passion for working with this client group.

Responsibilities
  • Manage own caseload in line with CPA procedures and risk management protocols.
  • Use evidence-based and client-centred principles to assess needs and plan, implement and evaluate health and social care interventions.
  • Create and continually update person-centred care plans and build therapeutic relationships with clients.
  • Assess risk and design personalised risk management plans.
  • Provide leadership for junior staff through supervision and appraisal.
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of MDT services, with personal responsibility for defined projects and areas of responsibility.
  • Mentor and supervise students on practice placements.
  • Carry out MDT activities e.g. coordinating meetings and undertaking duty responsibilities.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and complete safeguarding investigations.
  • Ensure the requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 are observed, adhered to and implemented.
  • Monitor physical health and promote physical wellbeing.
  • Support carer and service user involvement, ensuring carers\' needs are identified and responded to.
  • Provide profession-specific interventions for the wider team as required and in line with NICE guidelines.
  • Participate in team training and mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
Experience and skills
  • Experience as a mental health nurse in community settings; ideally within EIP.
  • Ability to adapt approach to build relationships; strong record-keeping on electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of psychosis, CBT and related evidence; ability to use assessment tools.
  • Ability to engage with friends/families/carers; contribute to MDT settings; engage in supervision and training.
  • Understanding of medications and benefits; risk assessment and management.
