A regional healthcare trust in the UK is seeking an experienced Estates Operations Manager to lead compliance and operational management of estates at designated sites. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe maintenance service, managing staffing, and overseeing compliance with NHS standards. Ideal candidates will have a degree in a relevant discipline and significant experience in an estates environment. The role offers a salary range of £54,981.50 to £62,916.50 per year, inclusive of a retention premium.

Under the direction of the General Manager, the post holder will be responsible for maintaining a strategic compliance road map and plans towards full Estates compliance. You will be expected to be self‑motivated and take the lead in analysing risks across wide ranging operational regulations and proactively develop and roll out appropriate mitigation measures and plans, ensuring all appropriate policies and procedures are developed and regularly updated.
As an experienced Estates Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring and managing Estates’ compliance in regard to either Electrical and Medical Gases or Mechanical and Ventilation, recording/documentation systems, standard operating procedures and staff legislative training requirements, in particular giving significant practical support to Estates’ Authorised Persons (APs), the General Manager of Estates as well as other managers within the Estate and Facilities Management team in the course of their duties.
Assist the General Manager of Estates in the operational management of the Trust’s estate at the designated site(s), including all building and engineering systems, roadways, footpaths and grounds, and for ensuring that these are maintained to the appropriate NHS and statutory standards in order to deliver a high quality care environment for the Trust’s patients.
Ensure the provision of an efficient, effective and safe patient‑focused maintenance service, within the allocated budgets, using directly employed staff and contractors, and through the development of suitable operational plans and maintenance programmes, ensuring that engineering maintenance, including contract work is carried out to appropriate standards and specifications.
Responsible for the management of maintenance staff.
Acts as Coordinating Authorised Person (CAP) for the Trust and Authorised Person (AP) in relation to a number of specific maintenance responsibilities e.g. medical gas, high voltage electrical, low voltage electrical, pressure systems, decontamination, lifts, water, asbestos or specialised ventilation systems. Implements and maintains physical assets register; oversees minor schemes and capital work.
Leads the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the maintenance and repair services within his/her remit.
Provides expert specialist and professional building and engineering expertise to other estates staff, directors, and senior management of the organisation, and may also advise external agencies.
