Anexciting opportunity has arisen to join the Estates Department at LeedsTeaching Hospitals Trust as Estates Manager Specialist (Buildings),overseeing the management of the Trusts property portfolio. This role iscentral to the operation of one of the largest and most complex NHS estatesin the country, spanning over 500,000 sq. metres.
Aspart of the Operational Estates Team, you will support the delivery ofhigh-quality patient care by ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient builtenvironment. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Estates, the Estates ManagerSpecialist will manage and maintain the Trusts buildings, external areas,and infrastructure, ensuring full compliance with statutory andorganisational standards.
Theideal candidate will have a strong buildings background with excellent IT anddigital skills. Key responsibilities include:
Managing reactive maintenanceactivity
Overseeing planned preventativemaintenance (PPM)
Coordinating and delivering minorworks and improvement projects
Providing specialist technical andcompliance advice
Liaising with contractors andmanaging resources effectively
Supporting strategic planning forestate development and infrastructure improvement

Thepost holder will be responsible for the supervision and management of thein-house multi-skilled Estates maintenance team, as well as the coordinationof specialist contractors that are pivotal to the day to day running of theEstates function.
Therole will also include responsibility for ensuring that the sites havecompliant value-for money service contracts for all specialist Estatesmaintenance services, collaborating closely with colleagues at other Trustsites to standardise contracts where appropriate. This will include workingwith Trust Procurement specialists to ensure that all contracts are fullycompliant with Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs).
Therole will require the successful candidate to be an Authorised person forConfined spaces and working at height and be well versed in statutorylegislation and technical guidance related to the maintenance andconstruction of public buildings
Thepost holder shall have responsibility for the management of the Estates teamand contractors using the RESET certification, control of contactorscompetence-verification system.

Responsiblefor management, maintenance, and repair of building fabric, utilities, andengineering services across the Trust. Ensures statutory and regulatorycompliance related to buildings and infrastructure, delivers safeenvironments for patients and staff, and provides specialist technicaladvice. Leads building-related emergency response, compliance, and forwardmaintenance planning.
KeyResponsibilities (Building & Infrastructure Emphasis)
Leadand manage the maintenance and upkeep of building fabric, fire safetysystems, building regulations, DDA compliance, CDM regulations, working atheights, and confined spaces.
Ensurebuilding-related statutory compliance including HTMs, HBNs, PUWER, asbestos,and health & safety legislation.
Provideexpert advice on building regulations, design, construction, refurbishment,and project planning.
Diagnoseand resolve complex building infrastructure faults, ensuring safety andcontinuity of patient services.
Plan,organise and supervise Trust-wide building maintenance strategies (clinicaland non-clinical areas).
Managebuilding-related emergency situations, activate emergency plans, and serve ason-call lead where required.
Overseebuilding fabric management including floor finishes, internal structures,external envelope, roofing, drainage, and access arrangements.
Usecondition surveys and forward maintenance planning to support long-termbuilding asset management.
LeadTheatre Maintenance Programme and other critical environment compliance.
ManageEstates Stores and influence procurement and supply chain requirements forbuilding materials.
Producebuilding asset data, documentation, plant histories, and compliance reports.
Engagecontractors and estates staff in building maintenance and refurbishmentworks, ensuring safe working via permits and statutory systems.
