Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Leeds seeks an engineering Estates Manager (Operations) to lead the in-house Estates maintenance team and oversee contractors, ensuring safe, reliable mechanical and electrical systems across a vast estate.

You will manage value-for-money contracts, work with procurement, be an Authorised person for HV/LV and Medical Gas, and participate in on-call duties to resolve issues outside hours.

Qualifications

  • The role requires an electrical background with good IT skills and a track record in estates/maintenance management.
  • Experience in managing external contractors and in-house maintenance teams is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the in-house Estates maintenance team and coordinat contractors.
  • Ensure compliant value-for-money service contracts for specialist maintenance and standardise contracts with other Trust sites.
  • Be an Authorised person for HV/LV and Medical Gas systems; oversee duties for Lifts, Ventilation, Boilers and Pressure systems.
  • Carry out work outside normal hours and participate in on-call duties.
  • Manage the Estates team and contractors using the RESET certification and uphold The Leeds Way.

This is a key role in the management and the operation of the Trusts estate which, at over 500,000 sq. meters, is one of the largest and most complex in the country. The Estates Manager shall have an electrical background and possess good computer and IT skills. The post holder will be responsible for the integrity of the Mechanical and Electrical systems and infrastructure, and for providing specialist technical advice for the day-to-day management of the Trust's buildings with regards to breakdowns, planned preventative maintenance and minor works projects whilst providing expert advice on all aspects of Estates Services., The Estates Manager shall have an electrical background and possess good computer and IT skills. What you will bring to the role

The post holder will be responsible for the supervision and management of the of in-house multi-skilled Estates maintenance team, as well as the coordination of specialist contractors that are pivotal to the day to day running of the Estates function.

The role will include responsibility for ensuring that the site has compliant value-for money service contracts for all specialist maintenance services, collaborating closely with colleagues at other Trust sites to standardise contracts where appropriate. This will include working with Trust Procurement specialists to ensure that all contracts are fully compliant with Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs).

The role will require the successful candidate to be an Authorised person for High Voltage (HV), Low Voltage (LV) and Medical Gas systems and have an oversight of Authorised person duties for Lifts, Ventilation and Boilers and Pressure systems.

The post holder will be required to carry out some work outside normal working hours, and participate in an on-call service to provide out of hours advice and attendance on site as required. The post holder will be expected to use their skills, experience, and initiative to resolve problems.

The post holder shall have responsibility for the management of the Estates team and contractors using the RESET certification, control of contactors competence-verification system., The Leeds Way is working together to support each other and deliver the best possible care to patients.
