Job description
Facilities and Estates Manager
  • Pay Rate: £27 - £30 per hour PAYE, £30 - 33 per hour via Umbrella company
  • Based East London
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, 36 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Estates and Facilities Manager to join our client's team immediately for a period of approximately 2 months, with the potential for extension. This role is crucial for ensuring the highest standards of building maintenance and development, providing the best facilities for both students and staff.

Day‑to‑day of the role:
  • Lead the site team to ensure effective deployment of resources and focus on customer service.
  • Manage the planning and execution of building‑related projects, ensuring high‑quality work, efficient resource use, and minimal disruption.
  • Oversee contracts and manage relationships with security teams, caterers, site staff, and cleaning services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and manage the college's refurbishment and building projects.
  • Deputise for the Vice Principal regarding Estates matters.
  • Procure and manage contractors, utilities providers, and other service providers in line with college policies.
  • Lead the security team to maintain a secure and supportive environment for students.
  • Monitor and maintain the college site, including cleaning, general health and safety, and security systems.
  • Contribute to capital funding applications and manage the estates budget.
  • Provide reports on estates/facilities performance, utilisation, and health and safety.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in site or facilities management.
  • Strong project management skills and experience working to deadlines.
  • Experience managing or supervising a team.
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholder relationships and contractor relationships.
  • Experience in procuring services and developing service/contract agreements.
  • Experience overseeing building refurbishments and/or building projects.
  • Good knowledge of facilities management and a solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Health and Safety qualification is desirable.
  • An understanding of student safeguarding.
