Job summary

Reaseheath College in Nantwich (Cheshire) invites applications for an Estates Joiner and General Operative, a permanent, full-time role (37 hours) on site. You will work across the campus, supporting the Estates team with maintenance, joinery tasks and small projects.

The role requires time-served joinery and experience in building maintenance, along with a collaborative, can-do attitude. 47 days leave, generous pension, additional benefits, and campus facilities are offered.

Job Title: Estates Joiner and General Operative
Status: Permanent, 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: 8:00am - 16:30pm, Monday to Friday (although flexibility is essential to cover overtime as required by the business needs)
Closing Date: Midnight, Sunday 6th September 2026

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Estates Joiner and General Operative to join our Estates team, working across the Reaseheath College and University Centre campus, as well as our Reaseheath Engineering Apprenticeships Academy down the road. You will support all areas of the campus whilst working closely with other members of the Estates team.

Key responsibilities
  • Support the foreman in the effective delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance to ensure a high quality and efficient delivery of small projects
  • Assist the estates team to delivery of a rolling plan of maintenance in line with the strategic direction of the College to ensure that the College estate is maintained to a high standard.
  • Undertake small Joinery construction, repair and maintenance in house projects completing to a high standard.
  • Organising and maintaining door suited locking mechanisms on campus
  • Testing, maintenance and replacement of fire doors to campus buildings
  • Assist in maintaining the safety of buildings and infrastructure across the College including health and safety management, risk assessment and fire safety to ensure that the College is a safe environment for all learners, staff and general public
The successful candidate will
  • Have GCSE Maths and English grade C or above (or willingness to work towards)
  • Experience of working in building maintenance, Joinery or the construction environment
  • Be a time served joiner
  • Have experience of planning, completing and timely delivery of small projects and reactive maintenance to a high standard
  • Ability to manage and work within a team, flexibly and with a "can do" attitude
  • Communicate with individuals on all levels including students, colleagues and visitors
