Job summary

About The Role

We are seeking a proactive and motivated Estate Services Team Leader to lead a team of Estate Services Operatives responsible for delivering high-quality caretaking and cleaning services across our housing estates and supported housing schemes. In this varied role, you will plan and coordinate daily work programmes, monitor service standards, carry out estate inspections and ensure residents enjoy a clean, safe and welcoming environment. You will also oversee budgets for equipment and materials, manage contractor performance, investigate service issues and respond to customer enquiries and complaints in a professional and customer-focused manner. Based on operational needs, you may also be required to support borough-wide emergency responses and provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.

About The Team

Our Housing Operations team is committed to delivering excellent estate services that make a real difference to residents’ daily lives. Working closely with Neighbourhood Managers, residents, contractors and a range of council services, the team takes pride in maintaining high standards across our estates. As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in motivating staff, supporting their development, monitoring performance and fostering a culture of accountability, customer care and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team where your leadership will directly contribute to improving local communities and enhancing residents’ experiences.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have experience supervising or managing staff, along with a strong understanding of cleaning methods, materials and equipment. You will be an excellent communicator who can build positive relationships with residents, colleagues and contractors, and who is confident producing letters, reports and other written communications. You will possess strong organisational skills, be able to prioritise workloads effectively, work independently using your own initiative and have a good working knowledge of IT systems. We are looking for someone with sound numeracy skills, a strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements, a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role. Experience of training staff, knowledge of repairs reporting and relevant cleaning qualifications or training would be advantageous
