An established manufacturing and precision engineering partner to tier‑1 power and aerospace customers is looking to bring in an ERP specialist, with production planning and scheduling experience, into their team.

The successful applicant will be somebody who has experience where new ERP systems have been introduced, investigating the concerns encountered, finding the resolution and correcting errors.

The project is a full time Monday to Friday role, anticipated to last 6‑9 months, and is an hourly paid role, paid weekly.

39 hour standard working week, with additional hours possibly required as a part of achieving project completion within the desired timescales.

Immediate start for the successful applicant.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented ERP Specialist – Master Planner / Master Scheduler to lead production planning and scheduling activities in a dynamic metal fabrication environment. This role is critical to ensuring efficient material flow, optimized production schedules, and on‑time delivery to customers. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with ERP systems and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and supply chain coordination using Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) tools.

Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain the Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) system to align production with demand forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
  • Create and manage detailed production schedules to optimize machine utilisation, labour, and material availability.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, engineering, and production teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules to respond to changes in demand, capacity, or supply disruptions.
ERP System Management
  • Utilise the company’s ERP system to manage planning, scheduling, and inventory control functions.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of BOMs, routings, work orders, and inventory records.
  • Generate reports and dashboards to track performance metrics such as OTD (On‑Time Delivery), schedule adherence, and capacity utilisation.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Planner, Sales, Customer Service and Operations to align production plans with customer requirements.
  • Support daily / weekly production meetings to communicate schedule updates and resolve conflicts.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline planning and scheduling processes.
Inventory & Capacity Management
  • Analyse inventory levels and lead times to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce excess.
  • Perform capacity planning to identify bottlenecks and recommend solutions by working with the Planner to support SIOP activity.
  • Develop contingency plans for material shortages or equipment downtime.
Data Accuracy & Root Cause Analysis
  • Investigate and identify the root causes of data inaccuracies in planning, scheduling, or inventory records.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in data integrity across ERP and APS systems.
Preferred Skills
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification (Desirable)
  • Experience in problem solving newly introduced ERP systems
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Metal fabrication processes (Desirable)

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Desirable)
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning and scheduling in a manufacturing environment, preferably metal fabrication.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and APS tools is Essential.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
