Job summary

A leading automotive company in the UK is seeking a professional to lead Employee Relations and Compliance. The role involves providing strategic guidance, overseeing workplace investigations, and implementing compliance frameworks across European jurisdictions. Candidates should have extensive experience in HR/ER and a strong understanding of European labor laws. A Bachelor's degree in HR or related fields is required, with a Master's preferred.

Job description

Employee Relations (ER):

1.Provide strategic guidance to HRBPs and managers on handling employee relations matters (disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence management).

2. Lead and oversee workplace investigations, ensuring a fair process, proper documentation, and consistent standards across countries.

3.Advise on conflict resolution, mediation, and employee engagement strategies to enhance workplace harmony.

4. Ensure consistent interpretation and application of HR policies across all European entities.

Compliance & System Building:

1. Design, develop, and implement a pan-European ER & Compliance framework, including policies, processes, and reporting mechanisms.

2. Monitor compliance with local labor laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions, escalating issues where necessary.

3. Partner with Legal, HR, and local HRBPs to update, harmonize, and implement compliance policies and procedures.

4. Support audits, risk assessments, and internal reviews across the region.

5. Deliver compliance, ethics, and workplace conduct training to managers and employees, ensuring consistent standards across countries.

Collaboration & Leadership:

1. Act as the regional lead, working with HR Business Partners across different countries to embed a compliant and employee-centric culture.

2. Drive policy alignment and continuous process improvement across the region.

3. Lead initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee well-being, ensuring local adaptation but regional alignment.

4. Build a strong compliance network with country HRBPs, providing oversight, coaching, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in HR, Law, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

2. Extensive experience in HR/ER with exposure to compliance or legal frameworks, ideally in a multi-country or regional role.

3. Proven experience in building and leading ER & Compliance systems/frameworks across different jurisdictions.

4. Strong knowledge of European labor laws and HR best practices.

5. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence across cultures.

6. High integrity, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive situations at all levels.

7. Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) is a strong plus.
