Job summary

Snap Inc. in Abingdon, United Kingdom is seeking an Equipment Engineer to join the Specs Inc. equipment/maintenance team. You will maintain semiconductor manufacturing tools and cleanroom infrastructure, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe operation of the facilities.

You will work with cross‑functional teams, manage inventories, and coordinate with external service providers for major repairs and upgrades, contributing to high‑quality, reliable production environments.

Qualifications

  • H&D or Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Optics or Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years in clean room or chemical laboratory in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with vacuum technology, high‑purity gas, and chemical delivery systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS for tracking work orders, preventative maintenance, and asset history.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service semiconductor manufacturing equipment and cleanroom infrastructure.
  • Perform equipment daily checks, preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Re-stock and manage supplies for the equipment area.
  • Document equipment processes and calibration activities.
  • Oversee facility and infrastructure upkeep in the cleanroom.
  • Monitor cleanroom activities to ensure safe operation of tools.
  • Coordinate with external service providers for major repairs and upgrades.

We're looking for an Equipment Engineer to join our Equipment/Maintenance team at Specs inc!

What you’ll do:
  • You will maintain and service semiconductor manufacturing and process equipment and infrastructure in our Cleanroom
  • Equipment daily checks, preventative maintenance and repair
  • Re‑stocking and supply management
  • Equipment process documentation and calibration
  • Facility & infrastructure upkeep
  • Monitor user activities in the clean room to ensure proper and safe operation of the tools
  • Reach out and coordinate with external services to assist in any major equipment repairs and upgrades
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience with semiconductor processing equipment and facilities including installation, preventative maintenance planning, and troubleshooting
  • Deep‑level technical expertise in one or more major semiconductor process areas, such as thin‑film deposition, lithography, or etch.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems for monitoring equipment performance and yield.
  • Proficiency with equipment control software and data logging systems for fault isolation and performance tracking.
  • Experience of working in a cleanroom environment
  • Asset & Inventory management experience
  • Systematic problem solving
  • Experience working and collaborating closely with cross functional teams - internally and externally with suppliers
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic product development environment
Minimum Qualifications:
  • H&D or Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Optics or Electrical Engineering
  • Prior work (7+ years) in clean room or chemical laboratory in a semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience with vacuum technology, high‑purity gas, and chemical delivery systems.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders, preventative maintenance, and asset history.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Optics or Electrical Engineering
  • Startup and commissioning of Facilities systems.
