We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Equine Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Sussex Equine Hospital on a part-time basis. This is a fixed-term contract expected to last around 12 months.

At Sussex Equine Hospital, you’ll be joining a welcoming and highly experienced team of 25 Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Veterinary Nurses, and 30 dedicated support staff. Within the team, we’re proud to have four specialists in Equine Surgery, two specialists in Internal Medicine, and two Diplomates in Equine Reproduction. Our purpose-built, state‑of‑the‑art facilities include advanced on‑site laboratory services, enabling us to provide an exceptional standard of care to both our clients and their horses. We are also a BEVA‑approved centre for artificial insemination and stud services.

Alongside our clinical work, we value being part of the local community. We host biannual Open Days and enjoy getting involved in charitable initiatives, with fundraising led by our team in support of causes that matter to us.

General Responsibilities

  • Delivering high‑quality inpatient care, including safe animal handling and nursing within specialist units
  • Ensuring all medical records are maintained to a professional, accurate, and compliant standard
  • Working collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and multidisciplinary specialist teams

  • Assisting with a range of diagnostic techniques such as ultrasonography and gamma scintigraphy
  • Providing support, including patient preparation, monitoring, and aftercare
  • Assisting clinicians during a variety of surgical procedures involving both standing and anaesthetised patients
