Equine Studies Lecturer
The National Horseracing College seeks to appoint a full-time Equine Studies Lecturer to join its enthusiastic, vibrant, and hardworking team. As one of only two specialist horse racing colleges in the UK, this third sector provider delivers training for people in both racing and other equine industries. Located on the scenic grounds of a private estate near Doncaster, the college achieved an Ofsted Grade 2 for overall effectiveness and Grade 1 for both Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development in December 2022.
Responsibilities
- Deliver riding and stable‑management tuition for the Doncaster Equine College, covering horse‑care courses from Level 1 to Level 3.
- Prepare and conduct indoor school lessons, adhering to the college’s standard practices.
- Contribute to and support the Doncaster Equine College (DEC) Show, dressage competitions, educational visits and DEC Taster Days – some of which may involve weekend working.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Horse Management or an equivalent qualification.
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, Certificate of Education or equivalent).
- Assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards and achieve one.
- Highly motivated, excellent communicator, able to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to work with young people who may present challenging behaviours that can be stressful.
- Relevant vocational experience in the equine industry and experience working in an educational setting with young people.
Working Hours
- Monday: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
- Tuesday–Friday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
There is a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break each day.
