EPU Clinical Fellow: Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology

Closing date: 25 November 2025

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at the West Middlesex University Hospital Site of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We aim to appoint suitably trained and experienced doctors with NHS experience as Senior Clinical Fellows to work as Senior Registrars with a special interest in Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology. These posts are ideal for candidates seeking an Out of Programme Training for Clinical Experience (OOPE) and completion of the Early Pregnancy and Acute gynaecology ATSM.

The post will also provide specialised training towards the completion of the intermediate module in Early pregnancy and Acute gynaecology ultrasound scanning. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the SpR on call rota and will be provided with an educational supervisor. They will also be able to contribute to research within the department.

Applicants are invited to apply as soon as possible with a proposed start date in April 2026 (1 candidate) and October 2026 (2 candidates). Successful candidates should be registered with the GMC and should have relevant NHS experience to work at the level of ST5-7 within a busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology unit. Interviews will be conducted virtually.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide a commitment to learning early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound scanning and conduct associated procedures.
  • Contribute to audit, risk, research and quality improvement in the department.
  • Provide general Obstetrics and Gynaecology cover during the day and at nights on a 1:8 basis (see sample rota).
  • Participate in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology SpR on call rota and provide daytime clinical cover.
  • Work under an honorary contract.
Sample rota (clinical commitment/research time)

Monday: Emergency ward round and EPU scanning

Tuesday: Audit and MVA

Wednesday: Emergency ward round and EPU scanning

Thursday: Long day on call 1:2

Friday: EPU scanning

Saturday: EPU scanning

Sunday: On call as per registrar rota

Additional responsibilities include EPU MDT, 1:4 Gynae M and M, etc.
